Competitions: Jested Cup 2002
It wasn’t easy giving up your warm morning bed and getting out in to the morning 3 -C air. Several layers of textile should help fight the early October, sometimes even sunny, morning. Fresh winds were blowing all through the nigh, therefore, we had no doubt about choosing the correct slope and immediately we drove up to the chapel, the North slope. The competition could not manage without some warm background o the first important thing was to gather up some firewood (this was no problem after the last winter), which literally vanished during the day.
Since the wind started to calm down (at the Chapel you do need a bit stronger wind) the competitors task was to decide if we should try the first round of a regular F3F competition or to start with a substitute comp. We decided for F3F.
In the first round everyone managed without problems. The time results were not somewhat perfect but almost everyone made the 10 courses. The sausages were also tasty and it was warm by the fire. The second round wasn’t that bad as well but as the wind was calming down we were flying really low above the ground and further more down the slope.
We made a short lunch break during which the wind dropped practically to 0. We tried for the 3rd round anyway, everyone tried really hard but out of 13 only 4 managed to get some points, the others ended up with 0. At this point the competition was over and we announced the results. Not only the first three and the last one were awarded but all the competitors and officials received a small prize supplied by our sponsor Inva export-import s.r.o.
We did some flying afterwards; well we did more launching than flying since the wind dropped completely. The forecast (if it was the forecast for the Czech Republic??) was promising Northeast winds up to 20m/s, which translated in our case meant Northwest wind max. of 4 m/s.
But it was fun anyway, another year is behind us and we look forward to the next one.
