Competitions: Liberec Slope 2001

    Finally (!) another competition turned out well in Liberec. Although it wasn't looking good in the morning.

    At the parking place at Zaskali the wind was still nice but after coming up to Javornik it was dead calm. We waited a while, had something to eat and a beer in the meantime since lunch time was getting closer and closer.

    Around 11:30 the wind started blowing from the West so we moved from the chapel down under the woods to the western slope. The direction wasn't ideal but the wind itself was good and it was flyable. The competition started. The wind was quite cranky at the start place since it had a few pines in the way, so the pilots had to fly over these in order to gain some altitude. A couple of zeros occurred. The course was shorter (not enough space) so the average time was around 40 seconds and higher. The first round was over in less than an hour. We ended up flying six rounds till 4:00 PM.

    On Sunday the weather wasn't on our side and after not finishing the first round the competition was canceled due to low wind.
