After last year´s absence of the F3F Eurotour competition at Rana Filip Kalensky came up with the idea of organising the event by ourselves together with Vaclav Vojtisek. After a short discussion in the car on our way back from on of the Eurotour competitions we deciced to give it a try.
Weather for Saturday looked promissing, the forecast was NW-W winds around 6 m/s. After the morning presentation, pilot registration and briefing we were off to the slope at around 9:30 and the competition flights started around 10:30. 31 pilots from the Czech Rep., Slovakia, Germany and Austria started the first round. Wind speeds of 4-10 m/s wind helped us to speed up the round, the only delaying thing was wainting for each pilot to land. Unfortunately there were a few crashes during the first round, Lada Vodak being one of the unlucky ones, when he smashed his Sting due to aileron servo failure and was out for the rest of the competition. In the afternoon the sun came out for a while and thanks to thermals some pilots had a good ride, Vaclav being on of them (as usual) with a 38,2s run in the 4th round. We managed to finish 4 complete rounds by the end of the day, we also started the 5th round but this was cancelled after a 30min break when the conditions dropped. Unfortunately some pilots with good flight times did suffer from this. After 17:00 we decided to end the day due to poor conditions. In the evening a small baquet was organised, the local pub was ours....
The forecast for Sunday did not look so great. After the morning briefing we were off to the slope at around 8:30. W 5-7 m/s winds are not ideal for Rana - crosswind. Around 10:00 we started the first round of the day. We managed to finish one complete round and we also started another one but the wind was turning more to the SW when it finally turned to the S. Again, after 30 min the round had to be cancelled. There we suggestions to turn the bases to the other side but after a brief discussion we decided not to do this due to bad landing conditions and also rain was closing in. Therefore, the competiton was ended after 5 complete rounds. Shortly after 15h we announced the results and prize giving from our sponsors - www.f3x.eu, Interimex CZ a.s., Viessmann, Josef Janata - took place.
1st place - Vaclav Vojtisek (CZE) - 1000p., 2. Philipp Stary (AUT) - 990p., 3. Jaroslav Vojta (CZE) - 948p. Congratulations to I. Bacinska, the only junior taking part in the event awarded with the perfect prize - a Mini Corado from www.f3x.eu
A big thanks to all the people that helped us with the organisation, base buzzing, etc. Since I was part of the organisation team I will not judge the competition and organisation itself, I will leave this task to others ;-)
Thank you all for participating and see you next year!
