Gliding in Liberec: New year's flying 2001
We thank Jarda Bartos for the great pictures. We hadn't seen him the whole last season and, therefore, would also like to thank him for coming to see us. Good to see him again as well.
Today, the New Years Day 'rally' is considered as a tradition which we honor. The forecast was looking good so we didn't hesitate and got together at snowy Zaskali (big slope).
We were lucky - the wind was southeastern. If the wind would be northern or western we would have real trouble getting on the slope. We would have to drive up to the top of Javornik and as you can imagine this is 'mission impossible' this time of the year thanks to the snow.
After 12:00 o'clock the weather was beautiful, sunny skies, great visibility, mild winds - but enough for "big" slope machines.
Everybody was nicely warmed up after climbing up the slope. Unbelievable - everything was flying that day not mentioning the fly-by's. A gentle collision of two slope models occurred - nothing happened, just a little bit of noise and both flew their own way. As time passed we were getting cold. About approx. two hours we packed and headed back home.
